Song of Healing

Did I pour you from a bottle? Misquote you from the Bible?Would the god I know consider both the same?
The bitterness has faded a little, but it's taken too long.

In that solitary basement, I prayed for you to save him
then got high enough to forget my name.
I never found a savior when all the wrapping papers were gone.

my phone is tapped. Some wires got crossed.
hazard lights that won't turn off.
a television flickers and whispers the weather.
it's cold. so cold.

But your warm embrace
in the form of a sedative: relinquish the day.
Alarm clock is screaming--goddamn you’re hungover.
There's no shame in grieving the slow decay of our plans.

Is this evidence of madness? I’m diving into rabbit holes
where Alice just chose to get out.
Recite my sad poetry through lipstick with a bittersweet voice.

I let the mirror sing it back to me. His face is only apathy-
behind the glass he bleeds with each word.
I heard you sing from the garden:

"iloveyourface---lightinyoureyes----
nightintoday----nolampshade----nolampshade"

Your warm embrace:
this doorway, this precipice, this means to escape
to a reverie of lavender and blood-red ambrosia.

There's no way I'm leaving.
I just need a change of scenery.
