Canary Complex is a musical project created by American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Canary Kasey.

Drawing inspiration from the romanticism of 1990s Japanese visual kei, French chanson, progressive rock, and Impressionist art, Canary Complex exists at the meeting place of nostalgia and constant reinvention. Its music blends lush guitar arrangements, orchestral textures, dreamlike melodies, and deeply personal storytelling into a world that feels like a forgotten memory preserved beneath glass.

Canary Kasey first discovered visual kei as a teenager and became captivated by its unique combination of beauty, theatricality, musicianship, and emotional honesty. He was drawn to the soaring melodies, intricate guitar work, and unmistakable sense of romance found in the works of artists such as Malice Mizer, Kamijo / Lareine, Shazna, Luna Sea, and other pioneers of the genre.

This project began as a humble and deeply personal one, with Kasey as its only sole member. Although he still composes, writes and performs every element of the recorded music (aside from drums), Canary Complex now exists as a full live band.

While beginning in America, the project has now gained a devoted international audience due to its authentic expression of the visual and musical aesthetics of classic visual kei.

Its songs are imbued with fading seasons, forgotten letters, and unrequited love. The musical universe is an exploration of “The Imaginary Paris", evoking fleeting beauty through impassioned vocals and dreamlike soundscapes.
